The Canton Fair—The Largest International Trade Event In China
The Canton Fair is jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, and is hosted by the China Foreign Trade Center. Since its inception in 1957, the fair has been held biannually in spring and autumn in Guangzhou, China, and has successfully hosted 138 sessions to date. The Canton Fair remains the longest-standing, largest-scale, most comprehensive international trade fair in China, featuring the widest range of products, the largest number of buyers from the broadest sources, the best transaction outcomes, and the highest reputation. The Canton Fair has not only promoted the development of China's foreign trade but also witnessed the progress in the protection of intellectual property rights, demonstrating the Chinese government's commitment to respecting and safeguarding intellectual property. The Canton Fair has established a comprehensive intellectual property protection mechanism featuring proactive pre-show inspections, rapid on-site handling, and post-show coordinated follow-ups, which aligns with the needs of hybrid online-offline exhibitions. Additionally, the Canton Fair actively encourages participating enterprises to showcase new products and technologies, particularly supporting the debut of exhibits that have not yet applied for patents or trademarks in China, thereby helping buyers gain early access to cutting-edge original scientific and technological achievements and seize market opportunities.
The construction machinery sector was also in full swing at the Canton Fair, with an increasing number of international contractors and enterprises developing their global presence and gaining experience through procurement from China, leading to a growing preference for Chinese products.
